XC90 radio nightmare
Hi,
I have the same issue and very affraid about the cost of repair... Everything was OK, and I have not noticed any issues. Just yesterday I wanted to turn the radio on, and the display remains blank. Analysing so far, the radio doesn't completely work, nor the CD (CD is inside, but it will not start to play; I cannot eject the CD anyway). But I can enter a menu to Radio or CD menu. If I turn the volume knob, it shows the "volume bar" empty (like if you set the minimum), even if turn it the way for higher volume. I can enter a FM/AM band menu as well, but no change, no sound, nothing on display. Carphone doesn't work at all (not even a menu). Parking sensors are not working at all, too. :-(((((((((( Radio will turn on after a apx. 1 - 2 minutes of drive. I found that if the knobs on ICM are lighting, the ICM has elecric power (if they don't, the fuse or ground is cut). My knobs are lighting. I will be very thankfull for any ideas how to solve it (without buying new ICM for € 1000). Martin |

I have exactly the same issue. Just happened with the same á_TZ coming up on the screen. Is there any resolution that does not involve me having to dip my hand in my pocket yet again (In the last three months, replaced disks all around (350 quid), new valve pump inside gearbox (1800 quid) and the ubiquitous rear wheel bearing (250 quid). |

A while ago I purchased a XC90, however, the sat nav disc player unit had been removed. I acquired a second hand unit and now the radio and reverse sensors etc. all function satisfactorily. The sat nav will work, if I reset it and set its current position, by using the wheel revolution counter and installed compass. However, it will easily lose itself. In the diagnostics I find that it is not finding any satellites because it does not seem able to talk to the antenna. I have had a Volvo specialist look at it & he tells me that the unit I have is the wrong part - I have p/n 30752406 and he says I should have p/n 8696091 - with a cost of just under £1,000. I was wondering whether the software you referred to for disabling the MOST would allow the unit that I have to talk to the antenna? Or do I need to acquire another unit? I would appreciate any light you may be able to throw on the subject.
Many thanks for any help you can provide, Nick. |

I am also have a problem with my 2004 XC90, radio works, but no CD player and no 'Active Reversing' - having said that the fault is intermitent!!! so could be all up and running in the morning.
Changing an ICM does not look like a route we would want to be going down.....looks costly!! I have had Volvo's before, I can honestly say this has been the most problematic. |

2004 XC90 radio issue
Ahh - even worse. I have had the same issue and was told it was the Driver Information Module (a separate $1,000 deal) only to find out that wasn't the problem. Best case scenario would be to put in a radio with bluetooth or usb port. Has anybody successfully had a new radio put in?
I'll look elsewhere on this forum but I also need a right rear position light socket. Thanks all. |

More radio hassle
hello
have had three years of trouble free motoring with my XC90. Advertised it for sale as my oldest lad now driving and don't needd 7 seater. Sold it and day after buyer rings me to say radio not working. Went to his house in case he doing something wrong. He wasn't. When hit the on switch it comes on and says HIGH PERFORMANCE SOUND and then goes straight off. Have read with horror the other post re radio problems. Prior to this radio, CD player all working ????? do I have to spend £1000 sort this for the man have just sold too - cant walk away as wouldn't be right thing to do !!!! any advise appreciated !
