Is it possible that the Mobil 3000 5w/30 fully synthetic (Ford spec.) on sale over the counter in Wilkinsons (and was at Halfords I think) for £24 for 5 ltrs. is comparable and might even work out cheaper?

I am sorry to say we can't get anywhere near that price, to me it sounds like a bargain.
