Thanks everyone for valuable time and responses; hope the battery doesn’t drain completely by the time I return as the car has been used a lot before I left and assume the battery would have been fully charged. Will keep you all posted with the outcome upon my return.

.....and they're limited to 30mph in any gear

The 3 month rule does apply to the car in "transport" mode there is a form in the glovebox of every new car which must be signed every 3 months with time and date of charge . max speed is 20 mph by the way :-) with current sales figures ( up again 11% so far this year to this time last year ) I can't see any new volvo hanging around for more than a few weeks ..

Hi Everyone,

I got a "19" Plate new car this March, and wondered if anybody can tell me where the battery lives on the above model?

I have looked in the engine bay and under the boot floor but not found it yet.

Thanks for any help, Pete

It really is worth reading, or at least searching the manual in the dash or one downloaded to a mobile device before asking dead basic questions such as "where is the battery". Surely it is a basic requirement to RTFM, if only to avoid embarrassment. Shouldn't take longer than typing out such a question. It's almost as bad as asking what the tyre pressure should be, when it is printed on the door pillar of every car built in the last twenty years. [How many drivers have not noticed that I wonder?]

Hi Quacker, all other cars I have owned over the last 50 years have had a full printed manual supplied with the car. It's a pity this one hasn't.

I feel this type of comment from someone who posts regularly is not helpful.

Thank you to Clan for his helpful reply.

Pete.

Not helpful? It’s basic stuff. The manual is readily available, convenient for your immediate reference any time you are in the car and for all your mobile devices once downloaded, so any time you have your phone. It is specifically designed and supplied for you, the driver, as a convenient reference with easy, fast search. Telling you this, because it obviously had not occurred to you, cannot be anything but helpful. That you don’t appreciate the helpful pointer to a convenient reference to basic information is another matter entirely.

One of the issues with printed manuals is that they were getting rather large. The current XC60 manual runs to 686 pages, with separate manuals for Volvo On Call and Navigation adding another 60 pages to the total.

I expect Volvo are trying to save some trees...
