Nivomat rear shock absorber XC90 2003
Hi,
Just put a wanted add for Nivomat rear shock absorber for my XC90 2003. I got one 2 years ago from Ebay £270 new. Now £390 on ebay! I'll try FRF tomorrow. Anybody any idea where else I can get one from for a reasonable price. Cheers |

You don't need a new one, unless you want it new.
2nd hand ones, as long as they are not leaking are perfectly serviceable and you wouldn't know the difference. They are within tolerance until they leak. |

I have one that came off my 2008 car at 130k miles, no leaks.
Make me an offer! |

Regular Volvo shocks get very stiff as they get old, even if not leaking. Surely won't notice on smooth roads, but gets very uncomfortable on uneven pavement.
Arent't Nivomats behaving the same as they get old?

They are built to such exacting standards, hence the exterminate price new, that so long as they are not leaking, they are like new at any age...
and because of this, replacing in singles, instead of pairs is absolutely no problem. Ive only replaced one, a used one from an older car. Not one bit of difference in ride height or ride quality despite it being '2nd hand'. Last edited by colinbos; Mar 15th, 2018 at 09:38. |

Saw these the other day.
I got shot of my nivomat and went to standard shocks with new springs. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-XC9....c100678.m3607 |

Regards the 'non self levelling kit route'I didn't want to go that route as I like the self levelling, especially when towing. The insurance implications from being non standard also concerned me. |
