We attended a few of the meetings at Arties Mill too,but as I don't recall seeing your Daimler there[and I'm sure I would have]it must have been before/after you used to go.Went on a couple of their treasure hunts and days out as well as the BBQ nights.

Oh my, I have a list...
My second jaguar xj6 series 3 4.2 sovereign. 60k miles, Sage green with doeskin leather, gorgeous car. My Lexus ls400, 64k miles, champagne gold with light brown leather, the best car I have ever owned, build quality like no other, silent, fast, quite frugal. Porsche 928s4, 5 litres of quad Cam 320hp v8, crushingly competent. Fiat cinquecento sporting, 14k miles, like new, NEVER had so much fun in a car. Streetka 21k miles, again like new, a close second to cinq in fun stakes. Volvo 940 classic 2.3 lpt saloon, the best one in Britain? 30k miles, stunning, ate up the miles. My first and second beetles, a 72 and a 71, loved them, probably car I wish I had now more than any other. Brace of bay window campers, practical, fun, mobile Swiss army knifes. Volvo Amazon 222s, big, bashed, loveable, suited my lifestyle perfectly. Saab 95 v4, and my first 96 v4, god I love those cars. My beetle tdi convertible, moon miles, worth nothing, so loveable. Series 3 Land Rover, slow, noisy, draughty, god I miss it and a mint mk1 range rover, 64k miles, one dr owner, gorgeous. There will be more, must be, but that's it for now.... |

One of the best motors I’ve ever owned. Bought it with 128k on the clock at three years old and apart from the battery failing at five years old and the couch change at 136k it was a cracking motor. The 1.4 Jazz lump in it was woefully underpowered but it handled great and there was oodles of room in it, I loved it.
Why did I put it? We had two cars and only needed one so I hacked in the Honda and the 60 for a V50 which after a little investment was a good car too. In case anyone was wondering, my 60 was quite frankly a money pit, it kept getting silly issues regularly, shame really. TT

Regretted selling both of these, and they both ended up increasing in value after I sold them

Both my Escort Mexicos; a 1971 Mexico challenge one and a 1972/3 ex Merseyside police one. Plus the 1973 Vauxhall VX4/90 when the Mexicos were in sick bay. In reality the VX was better than the Mexicos ! With the overdrive, a 6 speed gearbox. It didn't suit my image as a late 20 year old !
Now I drive a quite fast Volvo |

Had one of these from 1978 to 81 was a rare car then, now very few about. Mine was the same colour as this one but on an L reg, auto box which was why I was able to buy it as a young guy as it was not working correctly and appeared in the car auction for not much money. Rebuilt the box and enjoyed it for a few years until the usual life things like wife, house etc. came along and I changed it for something very dull !
Always regret not being able to keep it but that's how it goes. Was a fast car in it's day but no match for my current S60 T5. Few interesting design features - front wheel drive but engine in line and tipped over to one side with the radiator alongside it, torsion bar rear suspension, front discs mounted inboard on gearbox end of driveshafts. I remember going to the Audi dealers for a new exhaust and they couldn't get one (car six years old at the time), best they could do was one for the GL saloon and cut four inches out of it as the coupe had shorter wheelbase. |

I have only ever sold 2 cars, that was my P1 tdi V70 and it was after I had purchased my P3 XC70 D5 so do not regret it. And a V70 I could not wait to get rid of.
All the others were written off by others or went for scrap as even I gave up on the welding. I work on the principle that it's not broken untill it's been welded 3 times at least but there is inevitably a point where you are just wasting time. None of my previous cars do I regret getting rid of, just like houses, if I had liked them that much I would still have them. Paul. |
