Default Roof Bars

The volvo bars for the xc60 aren't bad price wise just wondering what others people use?

Looking to use for bikes and skis/snowboards.

Thanks

I use Thule Slidebars https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/roof-...r-127-_-891000. They are a little on the pricey side, but they are brilliant for loading bikes and other heavy items on to tall vehicles such as the XC60, as the whole bar assembly slides out either side of the car.

Thanks for this - I didn't know you could get such an elegant solution, however having priced up the system for the Volvo, its a whopping £370 with all the adapters. Anyone know where is a good place to shop for thule products that isn't RRP prices?

I have Whispbars from www.roofbox.co.uk. Very nicely made and a fair bit cheaper than the Thule bars. The nice thing I found is that the little rubber filler strips don’t need to be cut and removed like they do (or at least did) on the Thules.

So quiet I leave them on all the time.

As previous poster suggested, roofbox.co.uk is pretty good. They are offering the Slidebars package (including the Volvo adapters) for £318.50.

Have a look on E Bay. I got a cracking set of thule slide bars for my xc70 for a steal at £250. great for loading snowboards onto during my last trip to Les Arcs.

I also use Whispbars from The Roofbox Company.

Very happy with them, quiet and good quality.

Will be much less expensive if I change cars, the foot packs for different cars are only about £25 a set.

We use the Atera Signo ASS aluminium roof bars on our XC60. We have used them about ten times over the last year and have probably covered over 2000 miles with them on the roof without any problems (so far...) They have a 100kg load limit whereas some other bars only have a 75kg limit (eg the whispbar and the summit ones flagged above, but not most Thule which I think tend to be 100kg). I don’t get close to the 100kg, but I suspect I do get quite close to 75kg so would prefer the extra margin for added safety.

They are £125 from roofbox.co.uk at the moment. They look to have similar bars in black steel for £95, but I cannot comment on those as we have the alu ones. I cannot fault roofbox.co.uk and their customer service, having used them for many years. (I have no affiliation with them, other than being a happy customer.)

If I have one niggle with the Atera bars, it is that there is a torx bolt on each foot which is really tricky to get to once the rack is mounted on the roof. If you can tolerate this then I am happy to recommend. It infuriates me though, as I think it is poor design on what is otherwise a great rack. We have the Atera Signo on our Mk I XC60, where there is no similar torx bolt to tighten.

I have a full Thule set on the V90 inc Wingbars and 4x 591 bike carriers.

£310 delivered from a company in East Anglia. Equivalent deal on roofbox and other suppliers would have been well over £500
