Coolant Loss from Header Tank
Hi,
I have noticed some coolant has escaped from the header tank past the cap on my Diesel V70. There is some collecting around the base of the cap and some has sprayed onto the auxiliary belt tensioner. Any ideas why it might be doing this? There is no oil in the coolant and the engine runs fine. The car has done 310000 miles and needs a new intercooler and air con condenser but I don't want to get these done if there is something wrong with the engine. Thanks TCH |

The system is pressurised, so I would change the cap.

As above, cap has failed. Very common issue, that is thankfully very cheap and easy to fix!
It is possible, if it's been spraying for some time, that you'll have to change the tank too. Looking at around £8/£5 for the cap (Volvo/PFV) and £40/£18 or so for the tank (Volvo/PFV).
