Yes, however soldering skills and the right tools and parts are required

A modern car radio tuner looks like this:

That is an example only, and pretty old. Newer models are smaller.

I managed to find some sensors on ebay £8.00 if its not compatible no great loss! I'll report back on that repair! Thanks again for all help.

Is it possible to retro fit front sensors? If I can find donor parts on ebay? Assume it must be reasonably easy??
possibly if the board is not the particular one with the serial number embedded in a chip . Or send it off for repair .. but is it worth it for AM ? Volvo used to do a dab add on it was the pure Highway D300i now superseded by the 400 or 600 an excellent device with a bonus of USB audio input .

the front sensors plug into the rear sensor control unit then a software is needed ..

Hi there everybody,

I bought my first car, a 2005 v70 d5, in July and love it! There is, however, one error message has persisted from purchase, "on call service required". A previous owner had removed the phone module and after research I decided not to replace it due to coding issues and not really needing it etc. I've spoken to a local volvo specialist and they are unable to clear it.

Does anyone know of anyway to permanently remove this code as although not affecting the drive or performance for the car, it's annoying having to clear it everytime I start the engine to see the trip computer or anyother messages?

Thanks all

The car was delivered with the OnCall safety system fitted, and expects it to be there

It cannot be unprogrammed or removed by the dealer as it is not a retrofit or de-activateable option

As it is a safety system, the car alerts you to problems with it.

Only permanent solution to clear the message is to reinstate the system into full working order.

Clan.

thanks for all this info coming back to The "On Call Service Required" this after leaving it for a while, once you have the PHM out I take it the 6.2v battery is inside the casing? Easy enough to get apart? Thx

No , last time i said the Battery ,monitor needed resetting and that the lithium battery lasts for many many years , I have a 15 year old on call battery which is still 6 volts . .
So you need to get the battery reset with VIDA ( as if you are changing the battery ) then it takes the present voltage as 100% , there was a bug in the firmware affecting the time counter..

Once you get the module out yes, the battery is in the casing .
