some cars were getting close enough figures to only need 3 runs but as i say some needed alot more for some reason. Think they had 6 fans & you could feel the air being sucked thru the workshop so doubt heat soak was a issue. Plus i don't think the consistant figure for any of the cars was there lowest figure achieved

My boost gauge goes just over 3\4`s into the white, and it is standard and done that from the first day i bought it

Hmmm, not the lowest figure.... maybe the cars had stablised with the ECU having compensated for the heat?
Strange one though......
Would be interesting to know quite what was going on there.

i've no idea tbh, i don't know enough about the cars (Mitsi VR4's) or technical waffle about rolling roads to even have a guess. I do know it was a VERY impressive set-up & the owner of the garage wasn't to fussed about it so assume its nothing unusal

i was just pointing out you can't get always get the same bhp figures even on the same rolling road even with runs straight after each other

Quite right, that is the nature of rolling roads, and why if you are using one to measure the difference mods make, you should stick to the same one, regardless of what figures it prints out. It is before and after runs that do the real talking. Then the on road experience confirms it.
That is the only way to get consistency of measurement for any mods performed. (Notwithstanding the elements of course) Still well hot here!!
I still think the best thing to do with dynos, is to use them as an excuse to get lots of like minded people together to have a great time eating drinking and listening to powerful cars at full chat!

Maybe you should have read the post after. Then you wouldn't have had to waste your time typing....lol

To save you the time going to hunt for it. Here is the reply i made to Hamish

"As you and Adam have said in the past Air Temp Fuel quality etc etc can have a large effect on BHP produced. If my memory serves me right at PE it was a very cold morning around 10 degree's and i was using Optimax. This time round High 20's (think it hit 28 at one point) and poor fuel thanks to the wife filling it up at ASDA.

So as you/adam have said taking these facts into account it could be considered the lost is because of the above."

Maybe you could ask Hamish/Adam the questions put to them if you get answers then, cause none of us ever did

Hope that helps

Iain

P.s I did find something intresting...lol

My car has always made the same power on the rollers to within about 2%. Then again I don't have an undersized intercooler to hold me back

The intensity with which people argue about this subject is just pathetic, as is the commercially orientated fuelling of the subject. I'd like to propose a ban on posters with a commercial interest directly questioning the professional intergrity of other posters - it just causes heartache (and makes all involved look highly unprofessional!). There are enough knowledgable 'laymen' around for us to make our own minds up, thank you.

A chassis dyno will NEVER give you an accurate crank figure, so pick your favourite dyno, use it always (for serious work), and compare the results relative to previous runs. I have a benchmark figure from Power Engineering, and I'm sure I'll go back there when I've done some work from which I can expect to see an improvement.

Dynojets are somewhat infamous (whether or not this is justified) for being inaccurate, but this didn't stop a US tbricker using one to measure more power from his 740 than anyone here (that I know about) except Stuart. Maybe y'all need to stop arguing and start making more power!

cheers

James

Hamish probably wont answer the questions due to the amount of sarcasm and critiscism everybody throws his way,and as for Adam how can he as i do believe he is banned LOL hard for somebody to answer if they cant even log on.I also know about fuel quality/air temps but surley there should only be a very small bhp differnece on 1 car after 3 runs?????.I also seem to find that you like confrotation as you seem to critiscise nearly every post i put?????
