  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

I know you have checked but it does seem to point to a wheel bearing if its related to road speed as opposed to engine speed.

I found a bearing fault by driving under a bridge with the window open and could hear it. ( On my previous car, not the S40 )

Thanks MDS40. There is a hint of wheel bearing noise from it. The noise goes from being pretty quiet to really noticeable. I'll have them do a full check on the car when it's in for the fuel filter change.

Just remember that a wheel bearing isn't always distinguished with a loose wheel.

You can have a noisy bearing, but the wheel could still have literally no movement when you check for play with the car jacked up.

Turns out it was the Offside wheel bearing that had failed. Changed and noise all stopped.
