Default Rear passengers offside door lock no working

Hi all. Volvo v70xc.
The rear passenger's offside door lock doesn't work Al the time

It stays locked whem the car is unlocked so you have to manually open from inside.
When you lock the car it keeps the door unlocked, if you have manually opened it.

Any idea what is causing this?
Im worried as the car door is unlocked even when you lock

Ta

Start by checking the relays in the rear fuse box. Each door has its own to lock and unlock if I remember right.
Move them around to see if the fault moves.
I've also seen a faulty rear module (that they plug into, forget it's name!) cause a door to not open.

For intermittent lock/unlock failure it is often the microswitches in the lock failing and this stops it detecting if the lock is properly locked / unlocked / deadlocked

Replace the door lock to resolve it

I think it's linked to the door pins it seems to get stuck and not move fully.

The kids have a tendency to push the pins down to lock the door when in the car.

I can hear the lock when pressing the remote.

Time to get the door card off....once it stops raining

I had exactly the same problem with a rear O/S door lock - replace the lock as above.

Hi,

had the same issue on my V70 2.5AWD.
I checked all switches and replaced all relais , the cause was simple:
The pre-owner charged the battery with the wiring off and put the cabels back to the battery the wrong way.
Just try the follow steps:
Turn off all lights, fan etc.
Turn off the ignition, close all doors exept the luggage-door and wait for about 10 minutes.
Then disconnect the cables from the battery, starting with Ground.
Then put the Ground and +cable together for about 5 minutes.
Turn ignition on, then reconnect the +cable first to the battery. Then reconnect the Ground cable to the battery.
Wait for another 10 minutes with ignition on.
Meanwhile you could put back batterycover and so on..
Turn ignition off, then on and start the engine.
Stop the engine, close all doors and lock and unlock the doors with the key (not with remote) 3 times within 30 seconds.
Then your door should open correctly

Just to update this thread.... well the door eventually locked itself shut and we could not open it for over a month.

Then yesterday it randomly opened again so long story short time to get the door card off to investigate.

It looks like the manual mechanism is working with the pin going up with the handle, however when using the CL to lock and unlock the pin does not move at all. The lock makes a funny noise.

I guess it time for a new lock!

I also notice that all other locks on the car had been changed as they have an 04 manufacturing date on the locking latch

It's up to you but before buying a new lock I'd submerge that one in WD40 and swish it around a bit. It's amazing what that stuff can do and it should get into all the switches etc and cleans the contacts and lubricates everything that moves.
Dry it off, plug it in and see what happens. £5 in WD40 / Duck Oil will be a lot cheaper than a new lock.
Above cured my non opening fuel cap a couple of years ago and that's still going strong
