Default Suspension ? noise from rear nearside 2010 V70

Hi all, I have owned my first V70 for a few months now and have a niggling squeek from the rear nearside, I. Have looked at all the suspension bushes and also replaced the shock absorber but the noise which I only hear at low speeds on poor roads continues. anyone who has a similar noise or who has found the cause or anyone else who can help please answer thanks.

I had (still have) a similar noise on my car, it seems to be worse when it is dry but disappears when it is wet. The car was in for a service and MoT last month and I specifically asked for the rear suspension to be checked but they couldn't find anything wrong. I still suspect it is one of suspension bushes on the rear, it has been mentioned on here before that the ones behind the plastic covers do wear and separate from the metal casing and this causes them to squeak - if this happens they will eventually collapse when the rubber wears through but the wear should be obvious long before that happens. One of the threads is here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...pension+bushes let us know how you get on.

I too have a squeak on my front suspension...unfortunately I've yet to figure out the source. I too have noticed that the noise only appears when it is dry out. I did try prying open the shock bellows and spraying silicon lube on the shocks to see if the squeak was coming from there...it wasn't. I do buy into the idea that it might be a bushing. If that's the case, I'll probably live with it until it becomes more than just an annoying squeak...

Hi . Check out the rear trailing arm front bush . They are up in a recess and covered by a plastic cover. They will quite often pass an MOT as the testers are not allowed to remove the cover so cant get any leverage on the bush . The noise gets worse during dry weather and when loaded . Bushes cost about £75 per side for genuine Volvo parts and about £200 ish to fit both sides at local garage.

Hi everybody, looked at the trailing arm bush which is looking a little tatty but still very serviceable, today I lubricated all the buffers on the back door and the latch mechanism with silicon lube. And YIPEEEEEE ! Now have got what sounds like anew car,

Can any one actually describe the noise on the inside of the car, rear left passenger seat area. My noise is like a couple of rats fighting over a bag of plastic tiddlywinks combined with the noise you get when your gran stirs up her false teeth in a tumbler of water like a crunchy sloshy noise. How does a worn trailing arm bush produce such a loud mixture of sounds.

? Never had those sort of sounds
The noise, an irritating squeak /screech is caused by the rubber bush moving inside the steel outer ring due to it delaminating caused by rust creeping between the rubber and steel. Genuine Volvo replacement are supplied with seals to prevent the ingress of water and subsequent rusting and de-lamination. You can buy much cheaper parts but they dont as far as I know come with the seals but they will rust and get noisy again .

ps . Have you checked to make sure you dont have any rats or your granny in the boot
