Default Unidentified sensor behind front bumper

Hi all,

Found this sensor/thing behind my front bumper when I was repairing leaking washer hoses.

However I've absolutely no idea what it is. It appears to have 6 wires coming from the back of it but that's all I know

It's not a sensor.

What you are looking at is the blanking plug to the bonnet switch connector.

Your car does not have a bonnet switch (and likely does not have an alarm)
if it did, the connector would be plugged into the switch (which is inside the bonnet catch)

It has 6 wires coming out the back of it hence the assumption it was a sensor.

The car definitely has an alarm, and has the alarm disable option in on the radio etc.

OK, then it is something else
It's still a dummy plug on that connector though, so it's for an option that you do not have

According to the Volvo parts lists it's a "cover" according to the part number stamped on it.

Possibly fog lights or headlamp wipers.

Thanks all, I couldn't find the Volvo part number and it looked vaguely map sensor shaped hence my question

The hoses leading from the bottle to the headlight washers had split in a couple of places. I just took some wider hose (7mm for reference) and some hose clamps to connect the two plastic hoses together. It's not a perfect fix but cheaper than £50 for new hoses. I ended up pulling the front bumper off so I had the space to play with.
