Default remote tailgate

Tailgate reluctant to open using the remote (hear a click clunk) but open up fine if I use the tailgate handle to activate it. Also closes fine using the remote (have the mod fitted).
I guess there is some linkage that has come loose, any suggestions what to look for before I take the panel off.

Have look in the lock mechanism . There is a small electric motor that releases the lock. This can become weak if any of the lubrication that put in the gears gets onto the commutator . Same situation with the main door locks .

If you have problem with your "tailgate" do a search and this is one of the threads that comes up https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...tailgate+motor there are other threads as well as this one https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...tailgate+motor but they mostly point to the tailgate motor being defective - been there and ended up buying a new tailgate motor. Mine stopped opening on the button but would open using the handle and close on the button every time.

Also watched link to replacing the struts and tailgate stoppers and have noticed the tailgate dropping when parked up the hill so can see some money needing spent, think clean up, stoppers, struts and then possibly the lock in that order.

I already changed struts twice on my XC70 MY2015. First time installed the original. After 1 year I had to change again. The second time I installed non-original "Lesjofors" (Made in Sweden). I like the way they work.

I am pleased to report that the 2 +2 stoppers have solved the problem so in my case a cheap fix. Very quick to fit (the youtube video was really useful for adjusting the top ones, pulling out 2 clicks did the job). On a sidenote, you need a hex for the top but a T20 for the bottom.

Had a quick look at the new V60 after getting the parts, really nice looking car, better proportions than the V90 IMO.
