Default S60 D5 MAF help ....

So guys ...

I have a 2005 S60 D5 185 Euro IV which I bought recently.

It wasn't running very well so I've been right through it.

DPF removal and deep clean
Swirl flap replacement (genuine Volvo item)
New injector seals
The EGR is very clean
New genuine Bosch MAF sensor.

I've boltled it all back together and it started easily enough. I cleared all the codes down and reset the DPF counter with my mate's super duper diagnostic computer.

I only have one fault ....

ECM 135F MAF signal too low.

Having just fitted a brand new MAF I'm fairly sure it isn't that.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where to look now, the car is in limp mode and is puffing out a bit of black smoke.

I've put a lot of work in so far so I'm a bit frustrated that I'm no further forward.

Cheers in advance!

MAF low suggests an inlet tract leak but you’ve checked the intercooler etc. already I’m sure?

If you search the code in Vida, it tells you the possibilities, most likely of which is an air leak as suggested seeing as the alternatives are incorrect camshaft position or damaged MAF sensor.

Well I've been all around the engine bay with some carb cleaner at the inlet system joints and it's made no difference to the idle.

It does have a kind of 'hollow' sound at idle, kind of bellowing if that makes any sense.

Hi Do a smoke test, as it does sound like a air leak, pipe work ,egr valve stuck,
intercooler, have a look under the intercooler see if there is any oil, you may need to remove the small under try under the 3 coolers, but a smoke test with some pressure will be best,

Worth also checking the hose that attaches to the airbox/MAF if it's the same as the 163, ours looked like it was secured well but was folded over on itself underneath & not sealing properly to the outlet. Didn't throw a code for us but the 'hollow' sound does ring a bell.

Swirl flaps stuck. Under the rocker cover. I see this issue all the time in my dealership. Same codes too.

There is a note on VIDA that points out a stuck or failed swirl flap will throw a MAF problem but you’ve got them working again?
