Default Considering buying an s40

Hello all thanks for accepting me

I'm going to test drive an s40 2.0 SD Lux 2008 and have never owned a Volvo before. Firstly, I'm after advice if it's an okay model, but also what I should be looking for? Having done an not check it has had a couple of advisories the last couple of mot's

Both front wishbone bushes departing or weakening
Rear lower control arm bushes Perishing
Separating to rear trailing arm Front bushes

Any advice for test drive or buying would be appreciated.bits up for 2k having done 146k and with quite a bit of service history and seems tidy but I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Personally I would avoid the 2.0-litre diesel (2.0d) because they (and the 1.6d diesel) suffer from niggly diesel issues that keep throwing it into limp home mode, which starts to grate after a while...

Go for the 2.0-litre petrol (2.0i) instead. This is a Mazda engine with a timing chain and its decent on fuel.

If you must have a diesel S40 then you want a D3, D4 or D5 as they are Volvo designed engine which suffer from less niggles than the Ford/Peugeot 2.0d and 1.6d engines.

See handy lookup chart attached....

Yeah that's a really good model, the SE Lux is the top spec model, with heated seats and a leather interior.

In terms of those advisories, bushes perish over time, and eventually need replacing, so nothing to worry about tbh.

I would look to see when the Cam belt has been changed (if it has ever been changed)
And just make sure everything works, look for all the usual stuff.

Is is a Petrol or Diesel model you're looking at?
