Default 2001 V40 serpentine belt question

Hi all
Just received my replacement serpentine belt in the post today, Dayco 6DPK1840, which is supposedly for my 2001 2.0 petrol 40. Width and length look ok, and has 6 rkbs on both sites. However as you can see from the attached photo the old belt on the right is rubber with deep grooves but the new belt on the left seems to have shallower grooves and has a kind of furry finish! Does this look correct. I offered it up to the alternator pulley and it seemed to sit ok on it but as you can see it does look very different in terms of material and groove size
Cheers
Wes

If it sits ok in the grooves of the pulley, then it should be ok.
The old belt will have probably started off looking like the new one, but has worn down to a shiny, smooth appearance ?

New belts are generally a lot duller finish, looks okay from here!
