Heater
Hi Guys
My heater is playing up it either comes through really hot or cold but cant do both. Once the car is on its either hot or cold and the vents never fully shut. Any ideas of how to fix or do i need a new system if so how much do they go for. Thanks Adam |

It's often the control unit rather than the heater (ie not the part that actually holds the water).
It used to happen on an S40 I had and a 'temporary cure' was that if I very quickly turned the heater control from hot to cold & back a few times it'd right itself and let me select a temp ... but if that was then adjusted it'd often stick itself either too hot or too cold again. I never cured the problem but AIUI it 'might' be a dirty track on that dial, or something else more complex internal to the control unit. There are quite a few posts on here about this, sometimes the quickest 'fix' is to swap over your control unit, but make sure that if you've got air con, heated seats etc, that the replacement unit has those too.
