Default My first Volvo! A long wanted 145!

I just thought i would post up some pictures of my 145 that i took delivery of today! Just 62408 miles on it and very original but been standing for over 2 years.
Managed to get it running after some tinkering and apart from a badly blowing exhaust, it sounds pretty good!
Here's hoping the pictures upload ok!

Excellent.

So what are the plans for the car?

BTW, I agree with your original diagnosis, fit new wings. I think they are too far gone for a repair that you'll be truly satisfied with

I plan to restore it to a useable but not show winning condition and use it as much as possible.
I am a Morris Minor man at heart but trying to squeeze the wife and 3 kids into one is a challenge which is why i've been after a 145 for a while!
My Dad had a 1968 B18 that looked identical to the one i now have, so its a blast back down memory lane for me really!
I grew up with that 145 and was so sad when it eventually got too bad to repair!

There are certainly some brown issue's there, but compared to some of the Morris Minors i've done in the past its pretty much like new!!

Ah, yes. If you're accustomed to Minor bodywork, this should be a breeze! My friend does Minors and, if he's not careful, they can gain on him... rusting faster at one end than he can weld at the other!

Don't bin the 145 tailgate too hastily. Although its rusty at the bottom, that should be easy enough to repair and the more complex shape around the window, where they often rust, looks good on yours.

Rear arches are normal; they almost always need to be repalced. Repair panels availably at Brookhouse Volvo.

Default Volvo 145.

Hello
I was interested to see the photos of your Volvo 145 on the Forum.
I too, have an early 145,also in Californian white, that I am hoping to put back on the road this year.
I have had the car for a while, but my main stumbling block has been sourcing a pair of front wings.Thankfully,a pair has turned up and now I can start work on the car in earnest.
Good luck with your restoration and I would be most interested hear of any updates.
Regards
Sean.

Hi Sean,
Great to hear of another survivor! I am just getting started on this now and hope to get it on the road in a few months time and then treat it as a rolling restoration!
I am still looking for a drivers side front wing (and have a passengers side one on the way) so if you hear of any more then please think of me.
The front valance is also pretty rough, but i think that should repair ok if i can't find a good secondhand one (hint hint!).
It would be great to see some pictures of your car Sean.

front valance is cheap and still available from Hadrians last time i checked, although i'd decided i was going to make a new one using the bottom end of a 240 one meaning could add the little rubber bib, but hey its for the best i dont have my greesy mits on it anymore!

Valance is no longer available i'm afraid! I will probably end up repairing the one on the car!
I must confess to doing very little to it so far as even though i want it on the road asap, i am being convinced that i should finish the Morris Minor project i am currently doing first!
Still waiting for a load of bits to turn up as well, must chase them again.......
