Recently the unlock button failed on my remote fob and I was sick of unlocking drivers door and jumping in and starting the car with the alarm blaring so I replaced the buttons in the remote. Dead easy.
The buttons are the size 6x6x4.3mm surface mount legs (SMD) I got mine off Ebay but RS components do them, cheap as chips. If you have a small point soldering iron it's an easy job.
Not having any desolder braid I just cut the button legs with fine wire cutters and threw the button away then melted the pad and flicked away the remains of the button leg on all 4 pads.
Fiddly bit is getting the new button lined up right but hold it steady and melt each leg down into the pad.
I put a new 2016 battery in while I was there and presto, one fully working fob.

Took it in to get the brake pipe replaced (the one over the fuel tank) after it started dumping fluid onto the road.

Cancelled Tesco insurance from midnight and re-insured on a multi car policy with eSure. Exciting times! Never owned two cars before. Although as I've agreed an offer in principle to sell the V40 to a forum member, it might only be for a few days...

Now I need to stay up past midnight, pay for VED and take the S40 for a quick spin....

Did a quick wet and dry and brush on silver enamel paint as a temporary measure today to cover up this monstrosity, asked my workmate who used to have his own body shop on what to do about sorting it properly and he said yeah get another wing, because what you can see there will probably be way worse underneath the side skirt trim, he's probably right, wouldn't have happened as much if I had splash guards / mudflaps on there, I may well look at getting a set.

Ordering parts: Rear end calipers, brake lines, brake pads, brake discs all four wheels, timing belt/roller/tensioner, coolant pump, auxilliary belt, VVT-hub, air filter, oil filter, cam/crank locking tools, torque wrench, misc. tools.
My V40 deserves it. No rust, engine runs like a clock so it's money well spendt.

Finally got around to changing the broken fuel cap springy thing, it was actually fairly easy, the two plastic pegs were pushed out from underneath with a bamboo skewer.

I've only had it pinned up on my noticeboard for about 6 months....
