Default Diff oil change XC90 D5 2007

After the Haldex oil change, changed out the diff diff oil.
- Bought the diff oil from FCP (115695 - Volvo Rear Differential Oil for AWD models - 31259380).
- Diff oil plug is the 13mm bolt towards the rear of the diff assembly,
- Used my Toledo suction pump with a very small hose attached as the gap to get into the bottom of the diff paste the gears is really small. Sucking the oil out takes a while.
- When i took the plug out a very small drop of oil started to drain out from the hole indicating it was full to the filler level. I know it has never been changed from new so this was how it was filled at the factory which was good to know.
- Drained exactly 625ml.
- Put back in 625ml oil and it started to drain slowly from the filler plug so was at the same level as before.
- Old oil was dirty but no sign of metal or bits which was good.
- Clean up and job's good'n!

Note, on my last XC90 T6, i had to replace the diff with a low Km second hand unit at 300,000 k's as it developed a very loud whine. When i took it apart the side tapered roller bearings where buggered so had someone changed the oil at say 200,000km's, I reckon it would have been alright. So much for Volvo's service schedule and lifetime oil policy.

Very interesting to see! if adding pictures was not such hard work I would show you the ATF fluid I removed from my 'sealed for life' autobox at only 75K miles. unbelievable!
