Default Parking brake service required

Hi guys just wondering if anyone can help, our 2008 v70 has a slight issue where the 'parking brake service required' flashes up for a second when the car is started 1st thing in the morning or after being left for 12 hours or more. After starting and driving the message never shows again that day.
The car has covered 145k and is still on the original battery and to me it seems like a voltage drop issue when the car is cranking over. Voltage drops to 8v when cranking.

Has anyone else experienced similar to this and has any advice?

Iv read the fault code it leaves but cant remember it from the top of my head, ill check again and post it up later.

Cheers guys.

Yes low voltage causes all sorts of weird messages , borrow another battery first or at least see what the fault code suggests .

Cheers for the help Clan. We decided to go for a new battery and the cranking voltage on the new battery is at least 2.5 volts higher than the old battery and the car turns over alot faster.
When the weathers really cold the headlight warning also shows up when the car 1st starts.

We had no errors on starting with the new battery but the proof will be in starting the car 1st thing in the morning, ill post up the results after a few days.

Thanks

Brett

Always good to know what cures a problem. Thanks for posting feedback!

A couple of cold starts later and all seems well, no warning messages at all from the parking brake or the headlights. Looks like an ageing battery was the fault.

Cheers

Brett.

Just having the same problem with my car, 2008 (58 reg) D5, still on the original battery, so it’s lasted well, but now the cold weather is here it’s really been struggling. Have had the headlight warning for a few years but the last few days also had the parking brake requires attention. Getting battery replaced tomorrow as I think it’s had it. Hopefully the messages will then disappear.
