just received my canbus HID's and have now had the fear of god put into me after reading these post's re the wipers, so can I confirm a couple of things.

1. must earth the male spade negative/black terminal direct to the chassis rhs/os (do not plug it into the original plastic terminal) or do I plug it in & make an earth off the wiring.

2. by DRL you mean the main low beam headlights that come on when switch is in 12 o clock position, or the lights next to the headlamps (the ones that take 501's)

3.do the DRL's have to be deactivated to safely run HID's

I apologise in advance as I know a lot of this has been covered,

thanks

I have HIDs fitted on mine I bought the best 55w hid kit from Hids4u.

I had my drls turned off at a volvo specialists which wasnt cheap.

I was also worried about the wiper motor blowing prior to install. However I fitted everything in as normal, the ballasts on mine are both screwed onto the cars chassis on either side. Everything else such as the wires are all the same, I didn't earth it anywhere special.

MY car is a s40 2008.

I have had these installed for nearly a year now with no problems apart from the very rare bulb failure message maybe once every 3 months with 1 side not switching on. Nothing a restart doesn't solve though.

Have fitted the hid's, earthed the ballasts using the brackets supplied, screwed behind the gap - behind the headlamps, just fits, and piggy backed the earth from the headlamps to the same point both sides. look great on projectors. no warnings at all.
