Hu850 radio

My radio has stopped working, it's a HU850, the display is ok all the functions seem to work just not volume, every now and again the radio will work but on full volume for a few seconds even if its switched off. Can this be repaired or should i look to replace it. fitted to a v70 2005/6 car.
I have seen other model radios on ebay and wonder if they will fit and work (All prefixed with HU 811,803, 801, 650 and so on.

Help please

Never used them, and they seem costly, but this eBay trader repairs Volvo head units:

Some on here have said the head units are coded to the car, others have changed head units with no problems, I'd probably go for a decent after-market up to date double DIN unit, unless you want to retain originality. Your HU-850 probably has the under-seat amplifier too, you'd need to bypass this wiring if going after-market.

Sounds like a great excuse to get a Blue power unit.

Hi,

Had problems with my HU-850, it wouldn't pick up FM. There's a company called Central Services, based in Manningtree (look them up on google) that could repair mine. Although I replaced it with a aftermarket system, which I'm now selling (as i was given another HU-850). My aftermarket set up is on eBay item number 262100212173

That's a cracking looking unit - how do you find the sat nav? Are the maps good and does it have post code search?

I can't answer any of those because I don't have one.
They look great though and there are quite a few demo vids on YouTube. Just search Bluepower Volvo.

Hi all, just a quick note, I have took the plunge and purchased a HU650 as a replacement for my HU850 and although the 650 is a single cd unit it works just fine.
