door / side mirror control switch
Am posting this in case it helps anyone else with this curious electronic glitch.
The door / side mirror control switch suddenly stopped working yesterday after working perfectly before. The powerfold was still working however. The little lights didn't come on and the mirrors remained stationary. I decided to check the fuse(s) - these are on the drivers side dashboard end when you open the door - prise the plastic cover off and hey presto - I removed the fuses for the door mirrors - 5 and 6 and cleaned the contacts, also fuse 12 - same - and replaced them, and everything working again. Hope it stays that way. Just thought I would mention it if anyone has a similar problem, it's a quick no-cost option to try and might actually work. |

Thanks for the tip.
How exactly did you clean the contacts? With IPA?

I used a very light sandpaper that I had lying about from when I did the headlights - just cleaned up the fuse blades. I also switched the ignition on to position III (without starting the engine) without the fuses in, I thought this might discharge any static. Then turned ignition off, replaced fuses and the whole setup is back to normal.

It was more likely the reset that fixed it, rather than a dirty contact...

Probably, but I thought cleaning the contacts wouldn't go amiss either. Might as well, as I had pulled the fuses anyway
