Just remember to re-connect the battery using the Volvo method of ignition in position II.

Yer might try that. Any ideas what the procedure is for disconnecting and reconnecting the batter is. And if I lock it whilst it sits on the road for a few hours

Hi,

Wait 15 min after turning off ignition to let the modules shut down. Then disconnect the battery as normal.

Locking the car without the battery disconnected is not a good idea. Can make it difficult to get back in!!!!

Suggest you sit in car with a mug of tea and a newspaper. give it 30 or 40 min.

When reconnecting the battery have the ignition in position II. This helps absorb the voltage spikes when you connect the battery.

See post 5 on this post for the Volvo instructions,

Hi bob.

Cheers for the info mate.

Disconnected the battery and left it a while but still no joy with the back lighting on the radio and steering wheel control.

Hi,

I have got a 2003 built V70 with the same problem. I took the car to a Volvo dealer who just re-started the audio system by their computer and it all came back to normal however few days ago it started again.
I know you last posted in May but do you have any recent information about your issue with the audio system background light?

Regards

Have you tried resetting and all fuses are fine, otherwise you need someone with VIDA or VCT or possible even BSR PPC, to see if there are any AUM codes stored (or communication with AUM and CEM stored) and then try a clear and reset.

if theres someone near its only a few beer tokens, otherwise it could end up being a AUM software reload at dealer

Default XC70 2006 - Radio backlights not working

Hey Folks,

The backlight for my radio controls of my HU-650 has mysteriously stopped working. I can see which channel it's on - but cannot see the volume dial etc. I've checked the fuses, and the controls on the wheel work fine.

I've read through the tips - only thing I haven't tried is disconnecting the battery. To take apart the dash looks complicated to try to replace a bulb.

My Volvo mechanic hasn't heard of the issue - only that typically they would 'replace the unit'..

Any help is appreciated!
Nate

Default Same Problem

Hi, Happy new year everyone!.

Did any one get this sorted? I have the same problem.

Basically the radio works fine but steering wheel buttons for volume etc wont work. Cruise control etc are fine. Not a massive issue but it would be nice to fix it.

Did the battery re-connect work?
