Default Towbar fitting - Midlands

I would like to have a towbar fitted to my XC90 SE Sport 2008 which didn't come with a factory towbar- it has the space saver wheel underslung if this makes any difference, although from what i have read it doesn't - just that the wheel needs to be removed during the aftermarket fitting and put back once complete.

Does anyone have any experience with these mobile fitters that seem to cover most parts of the country and fit on site at your home or work address?
Please post up good or bad experiences - am hoping to have this done in the next few weeks

No experience with mobile fitters but I would add this.

I fitted a good quality aftermarket towbar to my XC90 and it has been fine.

Two previous cars that I have owned, I've fitted Volvo Towbars but wasn't prepared to pay the price this time

That said, I would only ever fit a Genuine Volvo Towing electrics kit.

It's cheaper than you may think from your main dealer and it's plug and play.

I wouldn't let anyone splice into the electrics even if they tell you that it will be fine.

The only software update required from the dealer is to disable the car's rear fog light if a trailer is attached.

I have never gone for this update on the 3 kits that I have fitted to other vehicles that I have owned and have had no issues whatsoever.

As above

I fitted a quality after-market detachable tow-bar (with Volvo electrics).

I fitted it myself, on the front drive, with no special tools or equipment (or problems)

Save yourself a couple of hundred quid and DIY

Cheers

Dave

If car has parking sensors they are disabled busy towing module when trailer connected.

If towing heavy trailers the towing module is worthwhile if for a bike a rack limited use......

But in the EU and other countries such as where I live it is mandatory to have lights on the bike rack and thus the trailer module is very worthwhile when carrying bikes. It stops you getting pulled over and fined by police.
