May sound daft but check for spider webs in the car, if you have a spider it can set the alarm off!

hope it helps

Thumbs up Alarm keeps going for no reason!

Hello all, I have tried all the non cost problems as listed in this thread and others. The next thing I tried was to replace the internal alam battery at the cost of £16. Before I pay for a new car battery @ £100. And then a new siren module at @ £200, before i am fleeced by the dealer. I have fitted the new internal siren battery on 01/08/15 and as yet have had no alarm going off or the message coming up on the dash. I would possibly say to change this first as it is the cheepist option. There are plenty of YouTube videos explaining how to do It. Just ensure that you get the best battery for it. 320mih is the best from a model shop. 2011 XC90 Exec.

You'll get one for less than a fiver. Turnigy are their own brand and they have a UK warehouse, so choose that if you don't want to pay exorbitant shipping and wait 3 weeks.

That is sound advice. Thanks for the website address. The latest on the alarm going off though is it has not resolved the problem. Today 06/08/15 the alarm has gone off twice for no reason, the next thing I am going to try is to ensure that the car gets a good run out and the car battery is fully charged. I will report back in a few weeks with an update if this has resolved it or I have just taken the No 8 fuse out of the box under the steering wheel again!!! 😀.

I'm sure I've seen a thread on the forum about mobile devices (Phones) left in the car when the alarm is armed causing false activations.

Difficult to prove I know but it seems relevant to me as I use a 4g/3g wireless hotspot which is plugged into 12v socket in the boot that stays live after the ignition is turned off, I get quite frequent false random activations of the alarm. Turn it off and problem goes away.

Prior to this did have a couple of activations when the car was left in the sun put this down to temp in side the car or the aircon unit cycling, but again so infrequent difficult to determine. On hot days now I usually disable the interior sensor, and then never occurred so.........could be this.

Default alarm

I had this problem of the alarm going off at silly times on my XC70. Turned out to be a faulty micro switch on the bonnet lock .Garage replaced under warranty and no more alarm for no reason.

Mine goes off when I get my van a bit too close when I'm parking. Possible of the rattle of the engine lol. I removed my alarm siren a long time ago (completely knackered) and just haven't got round to replacing it lol.

Been there done that!! And has still not resolved the problem. Same with mobile devices, all removed and the alarm will still go off! This is starting to get right on my nipple end now, as well as the neighbours too!!! 😬
Next try after the battery run will be the siren then the mass movement sensor then a Land Rover discovery!!!!😀 lol

lol... I'm liking your approach... siren's knackered... buy a Disco

Do you have VIDA / DICE? If not, I'm only in Darlo.

And if you haven't a battery, I got one for my siren that I'm not going to be using... you're welcome to it. The siren was too far gone to be useful.
