Happy with deselecting auto updates.

Mine are normally done when the car is in the drive - it connects to the house Wi-fi and away we go. How do you choose which method you want updates to be downloaded to the car by to ensure the 200mb is not wasted?

At the moment I do maps onto a USB stick and apps via house Wi-fi.

Does anyone know what happens if/when you reach the 200mb limit in a month - does it continue to use up data but you (somehow) need to pay for, or does it just stop working as its at its limit?

When I got mine and it didn’t auto add on the 200mb, the data just stopped working. I believe the same applies when you reach the 200mb limit.

When you reach 200Mb it just stops any downloads. No bill generated.

It amazes me that, we all own 40k+ vehicles, yet some of you are worried about paying for a little data!!! Then worrying about when the next 200mb will be available, yet you probably wouldn't blink paying £50 for Sky sports or £40 per month for the latest iphone, probably shop at Aldi too!!!

I'm trying to get mine going, and being told by 3 that I need to do one top up to activate the 200Mb a month free data. Is that other's experience?

Not my experience. Mine just worked once I had registered it in a phone first.

As to not paying... I am no Yorkshire man (Emerald Isle for me) but I fail to see the point for paying for something that I do not need to pay for. Whilst at home the car will update off WiFi or USB. If I need data I will use my tethered phone.

The 200Mb runs the RTTI and the weather app just fine for the 1500-2000 miles a month that we do.

If I ever bother with Spotify premium like the kids want me too I may have to rethink.

Just had a software update at the dealer and it now shows the Volvo Safety Connected icon in Sensus. This also requires mobile data - so this Sim will be handy for this too.
