Default Reverse lights not working XC90

Hello all,

MY04 XC90

I noticed that my reverse lights no longer come on when I throw the car in reverse. I have checked around and it seems as there is no fuse for the reverse switch. I don't know what to do outside of taking it to the main stealer to have a look but I thought I would canvas the forum first for some good old fashioned local knowledge.

Yes I have checked both bulbs and also my aftermarket reverse camera does not activate as well whereas before it did.

Sounds like it may be the reverse switch gone faulty - the camera will get its feed from the same place as the reverse lights

On a manual gearbox these are normally mounted on the gearbox housing

Don't know where they are on an auto though

Have you tried googling for the info?

Cheers

Dave

Do you have towbar electrics fitted? They suppress the rev lights when a trailer is detected.

If it is an auto and R appears on dash when I reverse then the reverse switch is working

Check reverse fuse and also relay in REM. I think the 2004 XC90’s had reverse relays

See this link, which I found using Google...

http://www.volvohowto.com/volvo-xc90...-and-amperage/

"Fuse box behind the left side panel of the cargo compartment fuse list Amperage:

Slot 1: Backup lights -> 10A Fuse"

Refer also to your Owners Manual, at this location:

Thanks for the advice Harley Dave. I have googled the heck out of this problem. Seems like everything is pointing to the relay switch.

Default Sorted!

Hi Guys,

First of all GREAT advice and links from everyone who replied.

In the end it WAS a fuse in the REM but the Haynes manual shows the wrong location.

I have found a link to the right location and will share this with everyone and hopefully it can help someone else who has this problem.
