V70 Brakes: Which brake discs and pads?

Yes check shoes!
Ate are better than pagid anyway for a normal road car, end of. Yes pagid supply porsche etc, like brembo supply ferrari etc, but thats the fancy stuff. Their pattern part aftermarket stuff for normal road cars is humdrum, inconsistent, and mediocre. They arent cheap crap, but certainly arent the top performers.

Make sure you keep the rear pads in the same locations you removed them from.

Handbreak shoes were replaced a couple of years ago (3 or 4 I don't remember) with some aftermarket brand. I WILL check them. I know about the issues they may cause.

Hi mine that broke up , make was Volvo, I don't know how old , my have never been changed ? car is 2002,
They delaminate and then get stuck and brake up,

I bought front and rear Ate discs, pads and hoses plus fluid a couple of days ago from a local store.
Cleaned the calipers and the caliper brackets (took me almost two days) and painted them. Right now I need to postpone the work for tomorrow (need to take care of my daughters for the rest of the day).
Work needs to be done tomorrow:
- rebuild calipers (4 of them).
- install brake hoses onto the calipers
- install disks, calipers brackets, calipers, pads
- bleed the brakes
- change fluid with brand new Ate SL
- bed them in
The front Ate discs (305 mm) are made in China, the rear ones and all the pads in Czech Republic. Hoses are made in Germany. Interesting...

Hi good you are doing all the brakes and fluid,
I tested my fluid and I need to do it again, I am going to do my hoses as well,
I was going to do it today but I was changing the spark plugs on my mums smart car yesterday , so I am taking it easy today , maybe tomorrow ,
I have not painted mine ,
it will take about 200-500 miles to all bed in, so don't go mad, don't brake from 60 to stop hard like some websites tell you to,
do gentle braking and don't sit on the brakes, because you want to keep the heat down,

also I use a sealy pressure bleeder,

You dont want to keep the heat down, the heat is necessary to cure the pads and transfer material (microns of) onto the disc.
What you need to avoid is excessive heat, and heat built up too fast, as this will glaze the pads and possibly cook them before cured meaning they will never work 100% as they should.
The long hard stops do bed them in quicker, but only if you do it right, irs easy to do the above and bugger the pads.
Easy braking will gradually bed them in fairly safely, but does take a long time because they dont get enough heat most of the time.

What year is the V70? I was told that many of the parts on my S60 T5 are Ford anyway and I tend to buy parts from Ford as they are cheaper. I have bought a few Ford parts for mine No idea if it applies to brakes but I have been advised on mine to always go with the OEM pads.
