Running HU850 on the workbench...
Hi,
I need to get the HU850 out of my car and onto the workbench to fix it. Are there any sockets & pinouts available to do this? I see adaptors on eBay etc. to enable an ISO standard radio to work in a Volvo, but no harnesses to enable a volvo radio to be used outside of the car! I could go to a scrap yard and see if I can cut a wiring harness out, but that'd be a pain (and I'll still need the pinout!) Thanks Last edited by nickds1; May 13th, 2019 at 16:15. |

Hu850
Hi Nick,
Heres a pic showing the power connections on the 12 way connector that goes into the back of the HU850, not sure if the HU will do much on power on as ild imagine it talks to the canbus for security, but easy enough to give it a try. You can probably use a SOTxx lead with the same 12way conn, and attach your power to that. |

Thanks for that.
Any ideas about audio out etc.? I want to get a 'scope on this thing to track an intermittent audio on radio problem. CD always works, so the audio power stages are fine and the radio always has RDS & tuning ok, so I suspect the CPU & RF stages are fine. This leaves the most likely suspects as analogue switching - unlikely to be a capacitor failure as both L & R channels have the same failure mode - both work or both don't. bum per aerial
Have you had a look at the aerial connection in the rear bumper?, worth ruling out before tearing everything to pieces 😁

Yep. As mentioned, the RF stages seem to always work with channel search and RDS always functioning - the sound is just comes and goes.
