Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement (Multilink)?

1992 Volvo 960 sedan with multilink suspension. There's a howling sound whose pitch varies with speed coming from the rear/right of the car that I suspect is a wheel bearing at the end of its life. When I search the part all I find are sellers of the actual bearing. I have no means of pressing the old one out or the new one into the hub.

Does anyone know of a source for the whole assembly besides a breaker? I'd rather not leave the car inoperable while I find a machine shop with a press and a few spare minutes, but I'm afraid this may be the only option.

Not going to get the whole assembly new, you could get one from a breaker, take it to your local tame mechanic and have them swap the bearings out for you?

Might pay to check it's not the front bearings creating the howl! They're much easier to swap and if you jack the front of the car up, you can spin the wheel by hand to check it's not those.

Not saying you're wrong or that rear wheel bearings never go, it's just the fronts seem to be more common and it can sometimes be difficult to be certain where a particular sound is coming from when it's on the wheels.

Good point Dave,
Its not allways obvious where a noise is coming from whilst you are driving. I try to get someone to drive for me whilst I get my head out of the window. Try the various windows whils someone else is driving will give you a better idea.

Good advice, I checked things out just a bit closer and the rear wheel bearing seems ok. CV joint as well. Spun the wheel and heard rubbing coming from the calpier area. It looks like it's sticking or the pins need lubricating because the pad was worn down to practically nothing. I'm swapping those out and moving on to something a little more troubling up front (new thread to follow shortly)...
