Default Headlight design?

Saw a 17 reg Volvo in Waitrose carpark today, not sure of the model, but the headlights were shall we say 'different'?

At a glance they looked as if they had a strip of silver gaffer tape across the middle!

Not my taste at all......

I have to admit, the LED headlamp design in the facelift V40 is (in my opinion) rubbish...The Thors Hammer DRLs do look good, but the actual dipped LED beam reflectors (split horizontally between the DRLs) look really naff especially when the LED headlights are on.

It's very clear that this car wasn't designed to have LED headlamps originally. They didn't bother sticking Thors Hammer on the facelift V60/S60, so not sure why they did with the V40!

That's exactly what I thought initially but then saw that the same DRL is also a direction indicator so they're growing on me
