Default Does my radio need a code?

Hello, can someone tell me whether I'll need a code for my radio when/if I disconnect the battery.
I've got a 2003/2004 XC70 with a HU-603 radio. I've got all the original paperwork and owners manual but I can't see a code written anywhere or mentioned in the manual. But when I googled the question I found quite a few videos on youtube that showed how to enter the code.
If I do need a code is there a way to get it without taking the unit out?
Many thanks
George

Be sure to have the ignition key in POS II with the headlights on when disconnecting/connecting back the battery. It may save a possible trouble with the Climate Module

Never done it this way, never had a problem.

I was under the impression that the position 2 thing was in case the airbag triggered when power was reapplied, however I may we’ll have dreamt that!

Indeed, it happens very rarely, but when it does it's rather annoying. This is just one of the forum discussions about it https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...eplaced-44331/

For the airbag or SRS work, I think the battery must be disconnected at least for 5 minutes or so

For the small thermistor in the CCM, the idea is not specifically to have the key in POS II, but rather to have the headlights on - which works on cars with daytime running lights - for the cars without this setting, the headlights will have to be turned on with the headlight switch. This will prevent a power surge that may sometimes affect only this tiny little electrical component on the CCM. An example of the technical volvo procedure - see at the very end of this pdf for example http://www.volvoxc.com/0/resources/h...le_removal.pdf
