Question Cannot start

Remote control didn't unlock my C70 so I used the key blade. Opened the door, reinserted blade into fob, inserted ignition key. No start, no electrics at all. Take key out and a whirring noise, (like a small fan) starts somewhere down near the passenger footwell. Noise will not stop unless key reinserted and switched to position 2, (driver position). Will see my mechanic tomorrow but should I leave the key in the ignition on 2 or take out, lock car with the noise still going. Could it be just a totally dead battery? If so, how come the noise? Looking like a tow-job tomorrow!

What year is your car? What engine?

This happened to me with my 97 v70. Engine immobilised because the car was not unlocked with the fob after being locked with the fob. I would say charge battery then try locking and unlocking car with fob again.
