Default Steering wheel replacement

Does anybody know, whether steering wheel replacement, requires wheel allignment afterwards?
Can the steering wheel, be installed off-center?
I ve been told that it can only be installed in one certain position.
I replaced mine and the steering wheel feels, its not centered when the car drives straight..

Got to ask the question before someone else does, why the hell would you replace the steering wheel on a brand new car?

I'm sure we'll find out soon, but I'd guess probably as an upgrade or warranty claim.

To answer the OP's question, over the years I've seen two types of wheels - some with lots of splines on, allowing you to fine-tune the orientation of the wheel, whilst others had a hex, meaning that if it were put on wrong it would be very obvious indeed. I've never seen one that's keyed so that it can only go on to the steering column in one way (but I'm not a mechanic so perhaps there is such a thing).

Sounds to me as though it's a splined wheel and that, when installed, it was a spline or two away from where it needs to be; if it was installed by a dealer I'd ask them to take another look.

LOL... I changed to the sports steering wheel - heated.

Dealer told me there is only one way to install the steering wheel though..

If there is only one way, both original and replacement would have exactly the same orientation.

Steering wheel itself can not be installed wrong unless you're complete moron, excuse me for the expression. A good mechanic can not mess it up. And when they do there is no requirement for anything else. If you went from non-heated to heated they only need to edit/update software for it to work.

I have wish to replace my steering wheel too on my V90, but price just seem bit high so I'm waiting for steering wheel to get bit worse (visually) then I'll give it a go :P

Went from Classic Steering wheel, to the Sports Steering with Heated element.
There is only one way to fit the steering, but seems that there is some mm ''air'' for microadjustment and after re-fitting it today seems that the problem is almost non-existent. Maybe the ''centers'' of the new wheel are mm different from the other.
If i still notice it , i will proceed with wheel-allignment.
