Default Change non powered seats to powered?

Anyone know if powered/electric seats from a 08 XC70 will fit into a 2011 XC70 fitted with manual seats. I’m looking at buying a manual 2011 XC70 (found a cheap 1) for my Auto 2008 XC70 mainly for fuel economy but can’t face going from my leather powered seats to fabric manual seats so wondering if I can just swap them. I.E will the connections already be there (just unused) & will the cars software be fine with it? Thanks in advance.

For future reference I contacted a Volvo breaker who told me the car wouldn’t have the relevant wiring, so a big job.

I've heard that the electric operation of the seats, like the passenger seat always works, isn't too difficult. But to get the memory option for the driver's seat to work is significantly more complicated.

Hi There,

Yesterday, I put and an electric front driver's seat in my Volvo S60. My car is a 2002 model and the seat came from a 2004 model (I didn't realise it was electric until I collected it).

When I took out the manually adjusted seat there were two male plugs that were fitted into blank female plugs (plus the usual wiring). When I put in the electrically adjusted seat the female plugs were not blank and went to a relay box under the seat.

You can imagine my joy finding that the wiring appeared to already be there but this quickly turned to gloom when the seat didn't work and the SRS Airbag Light is now on. The Relay Box is clicking so the power is there but I need to suss out what the problem is (I submit a separate post on the matter).

Cheers

Austin

I'd be concerned about airbag compatibility between the different model years. The airbags in the old seats may not be the same part as the ones in the new seats, and therefore may not deploy properly, or at all. Their operation will likely depend on being compatible with the correct control module and/or software, so having the correct airbags will be fundamental - it won't be as simple as just seeing if they plug in. And you probably wouldn't want to find out just when you need them...

Airbags may be different, but the igniters are built into each air bag. The igniter's interface with the SRS controller is the same.

I did ask a similar question of a Volvo dealer a few years ago. I was told there were after-market kits that can be fitted by a specialist garage but it was not cheap.
Maybe this does not help you but I thought it worth mentioning ...
Cheers, Phil
