Mr Red Ken will try anything to pinch a penny or two out of everybody he can so make sure you do your homework and dont get stung, even if you can use the Volvo for the everyday run your still got a LPG powered car which will return great mpg and be kinder to the enviroment (If your in to that)

I wasn't aware of this option - a while ago I considered lpg conversion and got much the same answers as Ian, but I didn't realise the car had to be on the list as well, I assumed the list of vehicles covered 'dual fuel' factory options (amazingly not all of which are approved).

If you feel like bothering I'd be interested in hearing of any follow up, as although I accept the necessity of controls on the conversions, I think the system, if it is as described here, is all to typical.

I seem to also recall something about 'banning the import' of the CC exempt electric car - or did I imagine that?

Well I have the LPG certificate and updated insurance schedule - when I receive the updated V5 I will try applying for exemption and see what happens. I will post the outcome here.

I don't remember where I heard this, a few months ago, that the exemption was going to be phased out. I have never heard it since, but I remember thinking that everyone who got a conversion and needed a couple of years to break even would be mad.

I guess I might have my wires crossed.
