This is my first encounter after registering.
I have a 1997 volvo 850 GLT with 98,000 miles. It rides well. The generator warning light goes on when i acclerate, mostly up hills. If i RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR THE LIGHT GOES OUT. IT DOES NOT GO ON WHILE i AM IDLING NOR WHEN i DRIVE ON AL LEVEL ROAD. THE MECHANIC CAN FIND NO PROBLEM AND HE ASKED N TO RETURN IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON CONSISTently. THE POWER IS NORMAL AS IS THE AC AND RADIO AND LIGHTS. CAN YOU HELP? |

try wiggling the thin wire going to the back of the alternator sounds like it could be broken inside the insulation and moves when the engine moves back and forth ...

Alternator light
Sounds like a slipping belt to me,if the belt is properly tensioned make sure it is not bottoming out on the pulley.
