Default Volvo S60 Engine liners

I recently had a very unfortunate experience with my Volvo S60 and it needs new engine liners.

I am not technical but my understanding is that you cannot get replacement engine liners and the only option i have is to buy a new engine. As the cost of the new engine is more than the value of the car my only option is to write it off which is devastating as i will be loosing thousand of pounds.

This was the results of the head gasket gone and the engine overheating.

I am trying to see if i have any options and can see on ebay that you can buy Engine Blocks.

Does anyone know whether this might be a cheaper option or are there any other ways around it?

The specs are Volvo S60 2011, D3 2.0 lt Diesel Engine

Any tips will be greatly appreciated

You would be better just putting a complete second hand engine in it,

The engine has a code ie D5204T3, find a engine with same code and it should be near enough a straight swop and alot cheaper than a new unit

I found an engine block that fits without a crankshaft though. The garage is saying that there is a risk to use the old crankshaft as the bearing might not fit.

Any thoughts on this?

Getting a block is ok but there is lots of bearings in bottom of engine and they have to be matched between crank and block and if you have to buy all new it could end up costing you a fortune in bearings.

I ended up getting an engine block with code D5204T3 as was suggested but actually my block has code D5204T2. so i wasted about £1,000 on labor and transport costs until the garage realized that this doesn't fit...

Apparently, Volvo doesn't sell just the engine block but only the whole engine which costs more than the value of the car.

Any ideas on how to get out of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised the T3 block doesn't work, I thought the difference between the T2 and T3 variants was just the mapping and peripheral (turbo etc) ....

I think if you look back the engine code was described by Rooster as "ie ...".
He did not say specifically this was what you needed to order.

Is the T3 engine from another s60/v60,

If it is it should fit as said above its just turbo setup etc that will need to be swopped from old engine,

The T2.3 and 4 are same engines its just engine mapping thats differant
