V40 Immobiliser light stays on
The Immobiliser light on the dash board came on and stayed on so I stopped driving the car. A few days later I switched it back on and the light is not constantly on.
Do I need to be overly concerned about this and what is likely to happen if I continue to drive? I am driving to Gigha, Scotland with a heavily loaded car a week on Thursday! First time to this forum and any help would be appreciated. |

The codes really need to be read from the vehicle to pinpoint the route cause.
There is a modification that can be carried out to some vehicles (dependant on chassis number) that involves fitting a relay to the ignition wiring to prevent the immobilizer warning staying on after a successful start. Best to call into your local dealer. |

The immobiliser light staying on is supposed to indicate a fault with the immobiliser (on my 1997 V40). I ignored mine and now it doesn't come on and my engine management light flashes (indicating a communication problem between the Immobiliser and the Engine Management System), and car won't start - which is why I'm here.
I know need to get my car to a garage so they can look at it |
