Default 2009 C70 Key Question

Hi

I have bought a 2009 C70 with just a single ignition key - the rigid black plastic stalk on a controller with 5 buttons.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what it would have come with when new, and what I need to do to get a spare?

I am guessing getting one with a flick-type key is possible? And that the key will need to be programmed/matched (who can do that?!)

Great car, very happy with it

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

Mine just came with two identical plastic keys, nothing fancy.

New key will be same as what you have now. Used to be just Volvo for new keys not sure if anyone else can do it now. My new key cost £218.00 in 2014 not sure what they cost today.
From Volvo the code is changed on existing key to the new key so that any outstanding keys will no longer start the car. You can look in car info panel to see how many keys have been issued to the car, think you are allowed max 5.

Thank you - Does anyone know if it is just Volvo still, or if there is somewhere else, perhaps a little cheaper...?!

Lots of auto locksmiths who claim to be able to cut and code from an original. Worth a call to see.

Hi 726PAV
Just got a new key for the wife's Peugeot from an indy, he said they have stopped doing Volvo keys as the work involved doesn't make it worthwhile. Google car key replacement east midlands, hopefully that can help.
Regards
Fred
