Default Bluetooth options

I'd like to know what options I have to connect my phone to my 2005 55 plate Volvo XC90.

I'm not that interested in calls, but playing music from my phone would be nice.

I do not want to, and will not remove the original head unit.

Is there a recommended module to fit?

Many thanks.

If you have the aux socket, I have just bought a c30 and bought an mpow Bluetooth adapter off amazon for £25 it works brilliantly for music and calls both really clearly and connect faultlessly.

GROM make a unit that plumbs in to the CD changer but I found it unreliable and expensive. Better way is either use a Bluetooth>FM transmitter (there are hundreds to choose from online but quality is inevitably limited. Better to do the awesome AM signal line in hack - which involves some dismantling and damn fiddly soldering but gets great results, see here - https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...63#post2542063

Get something like a Pure Highway DAB bluetooth unit to plug in and you have good audio input and hands free calling.

I think he's unlikely to have an AUX socket on that age of car.

If you search this forum - there is a mod that is well documented where you can re-wire the AM radio reciever to a AUX socket, so you can play direct from your phone or with bluetooth via a Pure Highway or similar.

The FM transmitters are often pants, not helped by the FM radio being in the rear of the XC90.

Hi I have an 07 XC70
Fitted a Pure Highway 600 linked through a Yatour unit to the CD changer port.
All works perfectly with no fm interference.
Would highly recommend.
Cheers

Mine has a professionally fitted Parrot kit, the MKi9100 Not cheap, but gives full on phone and audio streaming through the stereo.

Yatour? Must admit, this is a new one to me. Looks like good value - presumably there's no issue with the MOST security system which messes up the GROM MST?

Question Parrot and an optical interface worked for me

Hi,
I have a parrot MKi 3200 connected via an OASI 80/10 optical interface.
Super easy installation, two wires , live and earth, and it loops into the optical interface, ( actually easier than wiring), plays full parrott functionality (phone/streaming/ipod etc.) through the cars own amp rather than the cruddy parrot one, preserves steering wheel volume controls and reversing sensor function.
Installed it 6 years ago and still works perfectly even on iPhone 10.

Tip if you pickup an older second hand MKi 3200 kit you can update the software for free from parrot using a USB, it added voice answering to mine which was a surprise.

Also heard some other stuff is good but not tried it.

(I did some instructions for someone a while ago, if you want them PM me an I will dig them out)

Unfortunately the OASI units aren't made any more

My Parrot kit plays through the cars amp. I've no idea of the complexities of what an OASI might be, but the kit was fitted only a few months ago and the sound quality is first class.
