I've got the well known problem with this car, the intermittant non starting fault. I don't really know what to change first to be honest. Fuel pump relay, antenna ring, crank sensor, cam sensor. The car is an 03 C70 2.0 GT auto.

Maybe I should just find someone who's breaking one and buy all those bits.
There's no lights on the dash to indicate a fault.
It'll probably turn out to be ignition coils after all that.

Is there anyone on here who could supply those parts?
Drop me a pm if you can, please.
Ta.

Another question.
Just to refresh, it's a 2003 C70 2.0 GT auto.
Thermostat housing. Has anyone successfully split the two halves and just fitted a thermostat, rather than replacing the whole housing?
It comes in two halves bolted together with torx, so surely it's designed to come apart.

If anybody has done this, could you tell me which 'stat you used please.
Ta.
I've got a replacement antenna ring to fit by the way, just not got round to doing it yet. Haven't had any problems for the last 6 days

Ok, so it seems like no-one has split one of these, so I'll try another way.

Do you think one of the older, more conventional type of 'stat housings would fit?

Only ever split the earlier type but surely Volvo would have designed it to be split in order to change just the thermostat?

I'm going to assume the design was altered to accommodate the larger intake/plenum chamber on the ME7 engine?

Thanks Baffler.

I'm not being tight, but I do boggle at spending over £100 on a thermostat change, plus, if the older type housing fits, it would make future 'stat changes so much simpler, without the need to remove the aux belt and power steering pump.
The only thing I can see stopping it would be the newer housing having two mounting bolt holes, and the older type having three.

The new thermostat should come with a new seal so once you've removed the two torx screws give it a gentle tap with a rubber/plastic mallet or suitable piece of lumber.

A couple more questions, if you would be so kind.

As no-one seems interested in a bit of swappage with my C70 (see advert in the for sale section), I suppose I may as well go ahead and fix a couple of niggles. I don't mind really, it's a good car, and Spring/Summer is on the way!!

The later aux belt tensioner has a torx bolt hole for releasing the tension on the belt, does anyone know what size torx is required for this?

I have the SC901 radio fited, with the three cd cartridge. It doesn't select the cd's. Where to look? Should I replace the cartridge, or will this probably be an internal fault with the unit?
