Default Xenon self levelling issue

Hello

I have recently started having issues with my N/S xenon headlight on my S60R.

When I turn the engine on and the lights fire up, they move up and down to level them selves up. But the N/S has stopped doing this now and its only the O/S doing it.

But when I turn the main beam on, the dipped beam on both still move up, and down when I turn it back off. So it seems that the motor still works.

What could be the issue?

Many thanks

Kimmy

Hi, the lights can be re-calibrated - on the R they are calibrated through the SUM unit using Vida, however having only one light unit working sounds like there is more than just a re-calibration needed. Here's a link that will explain re-calibration: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...with-VIDA-DiCE

MRG Volvo in Chippenham would be able to advise you.

Cheers

Iain

Thanks for the info chap. I don't think a re SUM will solve it though. I might be wrong, but I'll give it a go.

Hi Jason.

I've tried driving the car gently across uneven ground and its still only the drivers side that will adjust up and down. I'm at a bit of a loss. Cause when you put the high beams on they both move up perfectly, and move back down when you switch the high beam off. So I know the motor works, but there must be something that controls the automatic levelling of each headlight seperately.

Is there a sensor for each headlight on either side of the car?

Thanks
Kimmy

Ok.

My understanding is that the bi-xenon bulbs have a movable shade in them that creates the hi and low beam effects, totally independent of the level adjustment.

I'm sure I've read that the level angle is fed from the 4c suspension dampers and not any other secondary level sensors on the rear of the car like non-4c cars. So, I would be checking that all the suspension info and systems are working correctly to start with, then look at the levelling motor itself on that side.

Thanks IC - I was looking for info on how to reset my R's lights cos the manual adjusters are maxed out, and the light shines only 20ft or so up the road.
Tried to do a sum reset using the software download tab in Vida and it went horibly wrong - error messages on laptop, and lots of warning lights on dash.
Also go half a dozen red fault codes.

Saw the method on Swedespeed as we were looking through the system, but decided to use the download option instead. - wrong!!

If I can sumon the courage I'll go and try the Swedespeed method, but the original experience freeked my out.

Cheers

Thanks chaps. I will give the re SUM a go.
But just for your information to the above post. The S60R has not got bi-xenons. The high beam is a seperate bulb and is not xenon. But when the high beam is activated it also moves up the dipped automatically so it's pointing further up the road.

Thanks
