Default Oil level check on 2012/13 XC60

How do I check the oil level as I can't see a dipstick at the top of the engine?

The only kind of dipstick I can see appears to be at the bottom of the engine block which I can't get my hand to.

You have an electric display in the instrument panel , have a look in your owner's manual .

I was told by local stealership not to use that dipstick, because if you break it (plastic) it involves engine out jobby.

Listen to Clan, and make sure that the engine has stood for at least 10 to 15 minutes to get a reading.

There are links to a "Police" dipstick on here if you do a search, that's if you really want to do a physical oil reading.

2ways use small dipstick

I use the small dipstick and never had a problem.

Same here also use the small dipstick, and my arms are not small to reach it, done from the top of engine.

You can buy a "Police" dipstick kit which gives you a normal dipstick at the top of the engine. There is a thread on the forum which gives the part numbers needed.

Try to Start the car without depressing clutc/brake, that was all the systems fire up but not the engine (position 2 is what it’s called)

Then use the stalk to navigate to oil level check

Still struggling to find this and the owners manual does not help much either. Tried the suggested above as well.
