irratic on LPG
Advice needed on an intermittant fault.
I have a problem with my 960 3 ltr estate 1996 model car running on lpg. The car, converted to a Tartarini single point injection system during the petrol shortage back in the late 90s has run fine apart from a coil change some three years ago. When on lpg the car "sometimes" runs erratically either on start up or during normal running, as if there was a cylinder missing then it will "clear" but not at any particular time, and run ok. If I change over to petrol I do not have the problem, and there are no fault codes indicated on the petrol system, so the problem to me is the lpg system. When the fault occurs I have unplugged the "emulator" to see if the fault clears and it does not so what is the next move? Thanks for any info / help Paul |

Just to update the thread
When the "erratic running" occurs, if I change over to petrol then back to LPG the fault clears for a period. Would this suggest that the fault is with the "fuel change over "? however that is done. Just a thought. Paul C |

That would suggest that the petrol injector seals have dried up and are leaking air. Air leaks would be the first place I would be looking at.
The other possible is the vapouriser is blocked up but check the for air leaks first |

irratic running
Thanks classicswede for the info,
The seals you refer to, I presume, are the "o" rings that are around the injector entering the engine? Is it a case of injectors out and replacing these seals to remove this possible air leakage? The car has 200K on the clock and the injectors have never been out of the cylinder head. Paul |

Hi Paul,
yes they are the ones. You need to take the fuel rail off to take the seals off the injectors and fit the new ones. They are basically a thick O ring |
