Default XC60: what are the options must you have?

Selecting my next car, had a long weekend test drive in an fully loaded D4 SE LUX. Very pleased with it. There's a 90% chance I will opt for this.

My issue now is what options do I select? What is worth the investment and what is a waste of money?

I also have to select a colour. Twilight bronze and rich Java are top of the list.

I think that every option, or combination of options, has been stated as essential at some point on the forum and there will always be someone who disagrees with whatever option has been posted as essential

Just to get you started I consider these essential
  • front and rear parking sensors
  • winter pack (to get electrically heated windscreen and seats)
  • removable towbar ( though depends on use)
  • rubber floor mats
  • complete dirt protector for boot
  • mudflaps
  • tempa spare wheel

I would have liked the headlight beam assist but I didn't want all the other expensive extras that had to come with it in the Driver Support Pack.

Volvo rubber mats are excellent, as is their rigid load liner and the spare wheel is an essential. Don't expect too much from the mud flaps but they are cheap and easy to fit. Also consider the stainless steel bumper top protector of eBay again easy to fit.
Didn't go for the expensive cosseting stuff myself but many do as you will see.

Did you test auto or manual and did it have many extra toys.

I tested the manual - lowest CO2 for tax reasons. It came with sat nav, winter pack with active bending headlights, driver support pack, security pack, dark tinted windows.

The lane keeping aid was a pain as it alarmed all the time on country roads!

I found this too. If I had it on mine I'd disable it. Loved the ACC, meh on the BLIS but could live with it. I'd go with the pack on my next Volvo.

Rear parking sensors were a must, and I'm not unhappy that my in-stock vehicle also had fronts fitted. Very pleased with the heavy duty towbar for a bike carrier - the towbar was the only option I requested on my Oz-spec vehicle, the front sensors the only other one fitted.

I've seen it and think I've been very restrained in not replying!

Just rushing off to the airport, US for 2 weeks. Will reply to this thread at the airport.

I assume rear sensors are included but I would add front ones as well. That is the only essential I would add as it adds great peace of mind in car parks and general parking situations.

Extras I would have liked but just failed to justify, Winter Pack for the heated windscreen, and privacy glass.

Anything after that on the options list would be frivilous for me, essential for other though as I am sure you will discover on this thread.
