960 lpg fuel consumption
Has anyone converted their 960 to LPG? If so what fuel economy are you getting? I have just had mine done and am really impressed with it. The performance is excellent and the switch-over totally seamless. The last fill up though was only doing 17mpg on gas... and although that equates to near 34 i guess as its so much cheaper to use gas.... I was wondering how that matched up to other`s experience.

I don't know what you should expect from a 960 but lpg fuel consumption will be slightly greater than it was on petrol. This is because lpg has a lower calorific value than petrol. So if you were achieving around 20 mpg on petrol you would get 17 mpg with lpg. Also, I wouldn't take too much notice of the figures you get from a single fill up. In my experience the point at which the filling pump cuts out can be a bit variable, so sometimes you get far more fuel in your tank than at other times. This gives the impression that the fuel economy jumps around a bit, so better to average out a couple of fuel returns for a true value.
Having said all that, does sound a bit thirsty though. Have you been doing a lot of city driving? |

Yes to be fair quite a bit has been city stuff but not exclusively. I literally only picked it up from the conversion last week and the guys that did it were saying something about sometimes there is a prob with them running too lean so I wonder if before the 1500 miles check up they run them a bit rich as a matter of course?

Update..... last fill up averaged 21 mpg on LPG which is great news as given its now dropped in price to 51p/litre means its the equivalent of 40mpg!!

Yes, LPG prices, where I live, have been a bit slow to fall in line with petrol and diesel. Glad to say my local shell has now dropped it's price to 51.9p.
21 mpg sounds like a decent return. |

960 with singlepoint LPG (less efficient than newer, multipoint sytems) returns 19 mpg motorway running at steady 80 mph.

V90 lpg
Mine does about 140 miles on 30/34 litres driven very hard. LPG has come down to 50p so I feel almost justifed in thrashing it.
I know this is silly but there doesn't seem to be that much variation in consumption when driven hard. |

response to lpg
Our 745 2.3 gets 230 miles to 30 litres(ish) and makes no difference how well or bad you drive. And thats with an old single point LPG through a thing that most people have forgotten about (a carburettor albeit a Webber twin choke).

I usually get 240m to about £20 - singlepoint 240GLT Saloon, towing a small trailer maybe 20 miles per fill less. To punish myself, I often listen to a 1955 Chuck Berry CD. Then I can fill up with a clear concience.... especially if it's raining too.
